My June Random Book gave me a new word which will be great to dazzle with at dinner parties – onomasticon. The Book of Who? is “an onomasticon of people and characters, real and imaginary”. Love the fact it looks and feels like an old book, but isn’t. Love that it includes a list of all Shakespeare’s characters (I get so confused), collectors and their collectables (who knew a helixophile collects corkscrews?!), and, slightly randomly, gardeners and gardening writers of yesteryear. My postcard – genius idea by the way – is from L’Auvergne in 1967 from Cynthia to Diana Locke. Apparently Paris was “quite marvellous”.
